A quiet golf enclave east of town
Río Real is built around its golf course, laid out in 1965 by Javier Arana, the second course in Marbella and the one that started the town's golf reputation. The development is low density: detached villas, a handful of newer apartment phases, and a lot of permanent residents rather than a seasonal crowd.
The valley setting means mature planting close to the houses, which brings pollen, leaves and dust onto terraces and into pool areas. Homes here need their outside space kept on top of, not just the rooms.
