The district, and the estate inside it
Las Chapas is both the name of the whole eastern district of Marbella and of a specific urbanisation within it, which confuses people. The district runs from El Rosario out towards Cabopino and takes in Marbesa, Costabella, Alicate Playa and Real de Zaragoza.
At its centre is Hacienda Las Chapas, a gated estate of large plots and substantial villas, which is where much of the value sits. Alongside it are family homes lived in all year, apartment communities, and second homes near the beach.
The Hospital Costa del Sol is the district's biggest employer and landmark, and the beach at Alicate is among the best sand on this stretch. Much of the housing here is permanent, so regular cleaning is the core of the work.
